The 17th edition of The Sibiu International Theatre Festival will take place between the 28th of May and the 6th of June 2010, featuring the theme „Întrebări” / „Questions”. SITF, the most prominent annual performing arts event from Romania and the third in the world in terms of vastness and importance, has compiled a programme which gathers in Sibiu guests from 70 countries and presents 350 events which take place in 66 venues, with an average of 35 000 visitors per day.
Outstanding companies from the performing arts field, Romanian and foreign directors, critics, operators from the local and regional tourism, foreign cultural operators, tens of thousands of viewers from the local, regional and international community meet in Sibiu to celebrate, over ten festival days, the artistic creation and creativity within a cultural event which aims at identifying and promoting the valid international benchmarks in the field.
ARTmania presents six concerts in The Large Square during the festival weekends.
Friday, May 28: Holograf
Holograf is a Romanian pop-rock band, one of the most popular groups in the country, with many years of activity. They were founded in 1978 Current members are: Edi Petroşel, Tino Furtuna, Dan Bittman, Iulian Vrabete, Romeo Dediu. The audience of Sibiu International Theatre Festival will have the chance to listen to well known hits such as: „Dragostea mea”, „Doar o viaţă nu-mi ajunge să iubesc” and many more.
Saturday, May 29: Cargo
Cargo is a rock band from Timişoara, Romania, founded by guitarist Adrian Bărar in 1985. After many changes in the band current members are: Adrian Bărar, Adrian Igrişan, Cristian Pup, Alin Achim şi Tavi Pilan. Top loved tracks: „Ziua vrăjitoarelor”, „Aproape de voi”, „Doi pași în urma ta”.
Sunday, May 30: Vama
Vama is a popular Romanian band formed after the break-up of Vama Veche. Current members are frontman Tudor Chirila (ex - Vama Veche), guitarist Eugen Caminschi (ex - Vama Veche since 2002), keyboardist Raul Kusak (collaborator of Vama Veche since 2005), bassist Dan Opriş and drummer Lucian Cioarga. Their first album released is called “Vama”.
Friday, June 4: Bere Gratis
Bere Gratis appears to have mastered the recipe for success: good on-stage performance, talent, energy and an excellent connection to the audience. Bere Gratis is a band whose music suggests modern pop-rock. Their lyrics speak of trust, hope and desire, but also about betrayal, regret, inner conflict, innocence and reconciliation.
Saturday, June 5: Directia 5
The band Directia 5 celebrates 19 years of musical activity. They play rock, instrumental and even house (“Unde eşti” track). They produced over 20 albums and they are happy to be one of the top acts in Romania. Directia 5 will sing their most popular tracks, such as “Superstar”, “Am nevoie de tine”, “Daca ai şti”, “Obsesia” and many others.
Sunday, June 6: Zdob si Zdub
Zdob si Zdub are a Moldavian musical group, based in Chisinau, whose work for the past several years combines elements of hip-hop (especially sampling) and hardcore punk with traditional Moldavian music and Romani music. The band represented Moldova in the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest, finishing on the 6th place.
