Contemporary rock legend, Lacuna Coil is an omnipresent name in Romanian musical media, and acclaimed since last year by the Festival’s audience, dedicates Saturday, August 13, to fans present at the ARTmania Festival 2011. Lacuna Coil will be playing on the same day as Republica and Sonata Arctica. This year, the festival brings something new, four bands playing on stage in the Large Square instead of three. The full schedule for Saturday will be announced shortly. 

Good news for those who have not yet managed to set up their Sibiu holiday: the third presale will be prolonged until the end of April, making available festival subscriptions for 110 lei and one day tickets for 70 lei. Access in festival perimeters is allowed only to ARTmania bracelet holders valid only for the days purchased and only after tickets have been changed for bracelets at various info points in Sibiu.

ARTmania Festival takes place in the citadel of Sibiu during the second week in August, between the 8-14 august 2011. Having reached its sixth edition, the festival offers a rich and diverse cultural program, adapted not only to the public but also the medieval citadel. The eight concerts in the Large Square will be taking place on Friday and Saturday, the 12th and 13th of August. Moreover, festival goers will be able to enjoy seven days of exhibits and alternative events as well as manifestations dedicated to belles arts, thanks to their tickets or subscriptions.

The Shallow Life (2009) release, produced by David Gilmore (Linkin Park, Pearl Jam) and recorded at the famous NRG Studios in Los Angeles, was Lacuna Coil’s best Billboard entrance and best debut in the Billboard Top 200 for Century Media Records, entering straight at number 16.

Shallow Life also reached the highest points in tops around Italy, Australia, the UK, Germany, France, Holland, Belgium, Spain, Switzerland, Austria, Greece and Japan. The band assured covers in some of the best music magazines like Kerrang! and Big Cheese the UK, Hard Rock in France, XL and Vanity Fair in their home country, but also in world renowned magazines like Metal Hammer, Rolling Stone and Rock Sound.

The band’s debut on the American market took place in 2001 with the Unleashed Memories album, but Lacuna Coil reached the peak of their success with the album B in 2002. In 2004, Lacuna Coil became famous after taking part at the Ozzfest alongside bands like Disturbed, System of a Down and Ozzy Osbourne.

Their fourth Studio album, Karmacode, went straight to number 28 in Billboard Top 200 US in the first week of its launch and 2nd in UK rock album tops, as well as reaching music tops in Italy, Germany, Austria, France, Spain, Greece, Finland, Holland and even United Arab Emirates. Over 40 magazines and papers worldwide, including Metal Hammer, Rock Sound, Revolver, Rock Hard and Scream featured Lacuna Coil on their covers.

After the huge success at Ozzfest 2006 and after their triumphant presence at prestigious European festivals like Download Festival, Graspop, Rock im Park and Rock am Ring, the band went on a sold out US tour with Stone Sour and Rob Zombie. However they didn’t give themselves a break and released their first DVD in 2008- Visual Karma (Body, Mind and Soul), afterwards leaving for an European tour and recording for their latest album, Shallow Life.

In 2011 Lacuna Coil will be present al Greenfield Festival in Switzerland alongside Apocalyptica, System of Down, Disturbed and Bullet for My Valentine, followed by Sonisphere – Los Angeles in July, where it will be playing on the same stage as Iron Maiden, Dream Theater and Arch Enemy, afterwards landing in a very special place, ARTmania Festival.
